Free Ticket Tool Alternative With a Web Dashboard

Ticket Tool is one of the most widely used ticket bots on Discord, and it earned that by doing one job well. If you are happy with it, keep it. This article is for admins who want their support tickets in the same bot and dashboard as the rest of their server, or who want to compare what a free ticket setup can include. Plans change, so check Ticket Tool's current offer on its own website.

What makes a ticket system feel fast

Before comparing bots, it helps to know what members and staff actually notice:

  1. One click to open. Every extra step loses people, especially on mobile.
  2. The right team sees it. A billing question should not ping the moderators, and a ban appeal should not land with general support.
  3. Clear ownership. Someone claims the ticket, so two staff members do not answer at once.
  4. A record when it is closed. Transcripts protect both the member and your team.
  5. Feedback. A quick rating tells you whether support is actually working.

Here is how MagnificBot handles each of those.

Panels with departments

A ticket panel is an embed with one button per department (ticket type). Each button gets its own name, emoji, description and colour (blue, grey, green or red), so "Report a player" can look different from "General help". The panel embed itself has your title, description and accent colour.

Every department can have its own staff roles, on top of global staff roles that see all tickets. A typical layout for a gaming community:

Department Button colour Who sees it
General help Blue Support role
Report a player Red Moderators
Ban appeal Grey Senior moderators
Partnerships Green Admins

Members only ever talk to the people responsible for their request, and staff are not flooded with tickets that are not theirs.

A note on the free plan: it has a starter limit on departments, which is enough for a simple "Open a ticket" setup. Premium raises that limit, along with others; see pricing.

Opening: one click, or a short form

By default, clicking a button opens the ticket straight away, with no pop-up. The private channel is created, and both the member and that department's staff roles are mentioned inside it. That is the fastest experience, and it is ideal for general help.

When you need details up front, enable the optional form for that department. A report ticket might ask for the player's name and what happened; an appeal might ask for the ban reason and why it should be lifted. Your staff start with context instead of asking the same three questions every time.

A few practical settings:

  • Channel name pattern using the ticket number, username or department, such as ticket-{number} or {category}-{username}.
  • Discord category where ticket channels are created, so they stay grouped in one place.
  • Max open tickets per member (1 by default, up to 10), which stops duplicate tickets.

Inside the ticket

Staff work with buttons and the /ticket command:

  • Claim the ticket so everyone knows who is on it.
  • Priority: low, normal, high or urgent, shown with a coloured marker.
  • Add or remove members, for example to bring in a second moderator or the other party in a dispute.
  • Rename the channel when the topic becomes clearer.
  • Close, with an optional reason.

Closing: transcripts and ratings

When a ticket closes, MagnificBot generates an HTML transcript, a readable copy of the whole conversation with names and timestamps. It is posted to your ticket log channel alongside the open and close events, and it can also be sent to the member by DM. The channel is removed a few seconds later (the delay is configurable).

If ratings are on, the member receives a 1 to 5 rating request by DM after closing. Over a few weeks, those scores show you which departments need more staff or better canned answers.

Moving over from another ticket bot

  1. Invite MagnificBot from magnificbot.com and choose a Discord category for tickets.
  2. Create the panel and department in the dashboard, set staff roles, and decide whether you need a form.
  3. Post the new panel, test it with an alt or a friend, then remove the old panel.
  4. Let existing tickets in the old bot finish naturally before removing it, so no transcript is lost.

Tickets are one of 16 modules in MagnificBot. If you are also juggling moderation, temp voice or alert bots, see how to replace multiple Discord bots with one.
